ISSUE ONE

THEME: FAMILY HISTORY/ROOTS
This month we are feeling like shitty sons and even worse brothers, so here goes:
Go talk to your family, sit down with them and bone up on some family history, see some freaky photos from the past, hear some crazy stories, learn how your father was really just like you when he was your age, before life almost broke him down.
Go and learn how small the world really is, how we’re all connected and don’t even realize or how we try to forget. Then go get inspired, whatever that word means, and make something fucking awesome out of it. Go record a song with your drunk uncle who plays guitar or something. I don’t know.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
Any old thing. Drawings, photography, writing, clothing, music, film, pimp fucking sunglasses, used condoms. Send whatever. We'll make it work.
Only honest works will be considered.
Note: All used condoms sent will be put into your mouth while you sleep, on the day you forgot about that asshole move you pulled that one time, and now all you have to show for it are memories of fleeting high fives from past friends and a present mouth full of cracked semen.

DEADLINE: JANUARY 15TH 2010
Hey hey lazy bones. Work on this shit through christmas break if you are really truly tired of not doing anything with your life. For those of you that don’t go to school: You either have lots of free time or work full time jobs. Maybe you think you don’t have enough time. We here at Hot Cut also have full time jobs and still find time to make a magazine and publish novels and try to be good people and get shame drunk on occassion. So fuck you I guess. Hippie.

Description:
We're all so tired of sitting around doing nothing, being terrible to people without realizing it, not knowing what to do, where to go. Sitting around watching skate videos wishing that was our lives: The travelling, the friendship, the freedom, the creativity. So let's come together and grow. We are here to get better.

THE HOT CUT REVIEW
A ghetto ass magazine about the transiency of life and how much it will suck to die.

Vancouver based and to be distributed in Vancouver and Calgary, through local shops and random mailboxes.
And maybe Montreal if we feel like calling up some old friends, and maybe Portland depending on how many friends we make there during this skateboard trip next week. But mostly Vancouver and Calgary.

This magazine is a kind of qaurterly, incorporating all materials from all walks of life. Each issue will be themed, with artists submitting work based on the theme.

We accept anything. The magazine will be released with a cd and dvd each issue, so please send music and film if you like that shit.

Every artist will get a small write up and will partake in a small interview/conversation about the piece, also we will all catch up with each other and laugh about past times.

Just an idea.

Hey Sweet dudes and Sweet ladies.
Scott here. Ian and I were talking (mostly Ian to be fair, I listened pretty well though) and the general sentiment between us was that we were sick of watching and reading about other people doing cool stuff while we did nothing ourselves. We decided to change this if only slightly. We are going to try to start a magazine of sorts, maybe that's the wrong word... maybe it's more of a randomly occurring publication for a group of like minded artists. We want to burn cds of our friends bands, we want stories and paintings and photographs and pretty much anything else and we want to collect it and put it out for other people to see so maybe everyone can share it. We are just in initial planning stages right now, but more details will come. We are thinking of doing it on a theme per issue basis so every piece will take its inspiration from a central idea. More on that to come though. This is just kind of a "putting the idea out there" type thing so if anyone is interested in making something think about making it then make it.
